SAY NO TO EMO.
angst filled teenagers are slashing their wrists and fantasising about death. their parents must be proud. i got this off 8 days. by TOMMY WEE.
I dont't know how long it's been going on, but apparently, these teenagers are cutting themselves and writing poetry about death because they claim they're 'emo' (teenage slang for emotional). a recent newspaper story featured a group of 12-year-old girls who made a morbid pact to slash themselves with pen knives. youth counsellors says it's a disturbing trend(NOT). say hi to the new GST-Generation Stupid Teens.

The thing is,these kids aren't abnormal. they're just not the offsprings of first cousins,you dig? they just don't sound normal. another report quoted an emo 17-year-old boy :"We're tortured souls, unable to face the world." Another teen said,"I will go mad if i don't have these forms of release [writing poems about death]."All these problems even before they're allowed to drink. They have cable and broadband. SO why do they sound like Anne Rice vampires?
I think if i gave one of these drama teen-queens a Rubik's Cube and left him in a room,i'd come back an hour later to find a cold body and a suicide note that says "Life is so hard."
Unconvinced that this self-destructive behavior was a trend, I investigated the story the only way i know how-by talking to 19-year-old girls. And it's true: They magnify every tiny 'setback' in their lives-like a chipped toenail, a 200g weight gain, or a t-shirt that got discoloured in the wash- to epic proportions. Self pity becomes a currency, and they find every excuse to 'die'. why are they so overly affected and dramatic?
Maybe it's cool to be misunderstood. Cool that your parents look at you and weep because they can't relate. Secretly, these kids are all dying to be noticed. Hence the kohl eyeliner,too tight scruffy tees,skinny jeans and hair that makes you wonder if the person sits or stands while peeing. Nobody 'accidentally' looks like a freak.

Now, i'm not a fashion expert, but this 'stylish' combination of clothes, piercings, eyeliner and hair would amount to.. a very weird looking thing.
It's clear to me what this is all about: reverse psycholody. I imagine the subconscious emo argument goes something like this :"Since the world doesn't pay me attention, i'm going to look like a mental patient." Really miserable people don't care about society. They go through rubbish bins to bring trash home to hoard until the government officials come knocking.
The less sexy truth is, 'emo' is nothing but a marketing tool used by savvy record labels to sell bands like My Chemical Romance and Death Cab for Cutie. 'Emo' is merely 'Goth-rock recycled for 2007.' I had Trent Reznor(Nine Inch Nails),Robert Smith(The Cure) and Marilyn Manson(self-professed Antichrist) in the '90s, but i never saw the need to act emotionally wounded or doomed by my own sensivity, mainly because around the time, Internet porn was a distraction.
I feel sorry for these confused teens. This is what happens when nobody fusses about violent video games and teenage pregnancies anymore. You start mutilating yourself to be 'different'. I'm starting a new movement for smart,aloof kids everywhere who laugh at affected misery. We're calling ourselves 'ELMO'.
